at least there's a bright side:

I wore waterproof mascara today.  I always wear waterproof mascara because whenever I buy mascara I think, why WOULDN'T you want mascara to be waterproof?  Uh, dumbass, DUH it's because waterproof mascara takes forever to get off.

But yeahhhh that's the bright side.  As much as I get sick of seniors and their stupid senioritis attitudes and their bullshit, I'm still going to miss the class of 2011 so much.  Especially choir seniors.  I'm not really a sentimental girl, it's just not my thing, but then today in Chorale we were singing such beautiful songs and I just started crying in the middle of one.  I didn't even see it coming and then there it was.

(recurring theme:  the past two times I've cried have BOTH been in the presence of beautiful music.  weeeeirrrdddd)

I'll miss everybody so much.  It's not that I don't want to be a senior.  I want things to move on, to keep going, but at the same time, it's so sad to see the class of 2011 go.

lalala awkward ending

OH MY GOSH and this morning when they played the song from The Breakfast Club!  That made everything real.  So good.

A Recapitulation of 2011 so far

I DID IT

Soooooo way back in March and April, I was spending far too much time on my laptop.  Because apparently I haven't re-watched vlogbrothers videos enough?  But I kind of realized it and that I was just squandering away precious time with which I could be, I don't know, doing something productive like perhaps studying for the SAT?  (sidenote: did you know that even if you buy the Official SAT Study Guide, you still have to study?  I kind of was hoping it would just inception itself into my brain...)

OFF TRACK
BACK ON TRACK.

Yeah so my internet use was verging on problematic (whatwith all of the porn as well*) but then I had to give my laptop back to Kent.  Which meant that being on the internet would mean like, LEAVING MY ROOM.  Which is never fun.  So I started reading instead!  And I have read in the past two months, probablyyyy seven books (aka more books than I have collectively read since eighth grade).  Which means that I might actually meet, and probably surpass, my goal of reading 20 books in 2011.  Which is pretty good!

A few weeks ago, my life was restored to normal because my dad hooked me up with his old laptop from work.  It's a dell, and it's only slightly newer than the Kent one I had (which was also a Dell).  The good news is that this laptop runs really fast because my dad didn't use it much so there aren't any viruses**.

But seeing as I'm having so much success with the book reading, isn't it about time I check up on my new years resolutions?

To recap (which I just realized is short for recapitulate), they are:
1.  At the end of 2011, I want to have 365 pictures showing my life in a year.
2.  I want to start a dailybooth!
3.  To exercise sometimes maybe, I don't know.
4.  To be less lazy and do more things even if they do require getting out of bed.
5.  To read twenty books.  I don't really read at all right now so this is probably the one I'm going to have the most trouble keeping.
6.  To start a collab channel on youtube with my big brother, Beau!
7.  To get into college.

Well #1 so far is such a fail.  I failed after 8 days.  That's okay though, notttt too torn up about that one.  I never did #2 either but I think that's because I later made an internal resolution to not use more social networking sites than I already do.  Seeing as #3 was really vague (as it was meant to be) I'm doing pretty good at it.  I work out more maybe, sometimes, I guess.  I don't really know what #4 was supposed to mean.  I'll have to keep it in mind.  We have already spoken about how well #5 is going.  #6 will not happen until Summer probskies.  I'm not doing so well on #7 seeing as I skip classes on days when I have quizzes and then realize later that I won't be allowed to make them up***.  So maybe I should work on having less crappy grades then?  Except for that I decided that I really want to go to DePaul!  Which, believe it or not, Naviance says could actually happen because my grades are good enough! Hoorah!

As far as 2011 goes, I think it's a pretty good year and I don't have any huge complaints.  Only HOLY SHIT!!
9 DAYS OF SCHOOL LEFT.  SINGLE DIGITS, BABY! God that is so awesome.

p.s.  I have a super duper surprise post that should be pretty cool to be posted either on June 9th or 10th.  Get pump'd.

*that was a joke
**don't worry though, I'll virus it up.
***Mom, if you're reading this, ummmmm that's awkward.  Except for you skipped class all the time when you lived in Costa Rica... so it's not like I'm the only sometimes truant teenager in this family.  Not that you're a teenager.  But you used to be!

8tracks for the win!

So there is one more site (other than facebook, youtube, and blogger) that I am constantly on.  It's called 8tracks, and I can't get anyone else I know to use it!  8tracks is a really good music listening site, sort of like playlist.com.  The difference is that on 8tracks you can listen, for free, to playlists that other people have made.  It's really interesting to listen to how a group of songs together can all communicate a similar mood to the listener, which is kind of the point.  It's also a really good way to find new artists, songs, genres (I found dubstep on there.  yeeeee.), whatever.

People make every type of playlist on 8tracks, for any mood you're in, for any activity you're doing. It leans towards less popular stuff, so if you go on there expecting to find Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift, you'd probably have to look for it for a bit.

The problem with it is that 8tracks is really good for me because I spend copious amounts of time on my laptop, so listening through an entire playlist works for my computer schedule.  If you just check your e-mail here and there throughout the day and rarely spend more than 10 minutes at a time on the internet, 8tracks isn't going to work as well for you.

ANYWAYS it's awesome.

These are my favorite playlists:
We Are Young- consists of happy, summery, fun songs themed around being young. Obvies.

Someone Does Love You- cheesy name excused, these are all pretty cute love songs.

A Mix With Which to Cross the Atlantic- this is a kind of cheesy, adventurey, get-things-done, believe-in-yourself mix. It has a few really good songs on it and alltogether the songs go well together

Face Melting Dubstep- this one is obviously, just some really face melting dubstep. I'll be bumping this all Summer.

music that makes you feel important- this is all prominent themes from movies or tv shows or just really popular band music. It has no lyrics and the exciting pace of the music makes it really good for last-minute essay writing.

Musical Coffee- a really really excellent way to start your day.

for when you can't decide if you're happy or sad- exactly that. it's a very sunday night, just chillin out reading a book type playlist. This one is probably the most special to me, because when I listen to it, I always instantly feel a little better.

Songs that should be played on repeat.- All of these songs are so good. I went out and actually paid for some of them, and that's saying something.

Okay well I hope that if you're ever spending awhile on the computer you'll think to listen to your music at 8tracks!  It's the bessttttt.

I hate:

1. The spoons Wendy's gives you for their frosties.  Whoever made those spoons has never seen a mouth, obviously, because they are FAR too big.  They make frosty eating completely unenjoyable.

2.  All 16 days left of school.  I mean really, can't it just be over? It's not like we're doing anything
in any of my classes.  Might as well get an early jump on Summer.

3.  Ohio.  I'm going to make an analogy.  Winter is like the long-term abusive boyfriend of our lady Ohio, and Ohio finally changed the locks and kicked Winter to the curb, like the deadbeat asshole that he is, and Ohio rebounded into a nice boy by the name of Spring.  Spring is just a crappy rebound, like not amazing or anything but obviously not as bad as Winter.  But stupid STUPID Ohio forgot to change the locks on her house and so Winter is back knocking on her door.  Spring is all pissed off because he hates Winter, but little does Spring know that he's out the door pretty soon anyways.

is that enough hate for the night or need I go on?

oh yeah.

4. Chemistry.  *head explodes of anger. kay bye.*

TITLE

If I were to create a website of the FML, MLIA, TFLN variation, it would be centered around funny texts you either sent or received to/from your friends.  But not like stupid shit, the rude, funny, sarcastic, or evil things you say to your friends.  For example... WELL I can't really give an example because the point of the website is that it's anonymous so it isn't embarrassing to the person submitting the text to the website.  I guess I'll give an example and you can just make fun of me in your mind.

"Hahaha my ass is sunburnt too.  Comfortable."

See and that's embarrassing to post because now you know about my ass.  But see, if my website existed then you wouldn't know it was my ass and you would just find it amusing.  Or maybe not.

But this brings up another point-

Was it wrong of me to sun bathe while I was staying home sick from school? Was it wrong to take advantage of the available sunlight while all the well kids were in school soaking up knowledge?  I don't really think so.  It would have been wrong of me to go out shopping all day (which I wanted to do but didn't because I felt sickly, obviously) but the thing is that there is no difference between laying down and reading a book inside and laying down and reading a book outside.  My parents feel it is a large difference and are therefore mad at me because they now think I was playing sick.

I wasn't playing sick; I was taking advantage of my situation.  Wrong? Nah.

Andddd the last thing: click and enjoy.

In support of humanity (is that too pretentious? probably)

(there is a 6,775,235,699/6,775,235,700 that I am not writing this post because of something that you said.  So if you don't want to read this rant about ignorance and poverty, you should just go read someone else's blog for awhile)

This is a picture that is to represent all of the poverty in the world.  There are a lot of dots and making each dot healthy and happy would be pretty difficult and overwhelming to do by yourself.

And for that reason, as a standard human being, what you have to do is you have to remember that each dot represents a person.

And each person is just as much of a person as you are.

So you should know that as much as you do to save them is as much as would be done to save you too.

So if you do decide to help that one person by paying $28.00 per month (hey that's only 3 hours and 42 minutes working at your crappy minimum wage job!) you're helping- and potentially saving the life of- someone who very easily could have been in your position while you stood in theirs.

And then that square of dots is a little less.  We've spent a lot of time this week talking about the death of just one man, a man who changed the world forever.  I think it's about time we realize that each of us is also one man, and we could change the world just as much and more than he ever did- but for the better.
You can make a difference!
