success on the internet

I have a theory about the way one becomes known on the internet, both as far as blogs go and as far as youtube accounts go.  I think that if you actively try to shove what you do down someone's throat, they're not going to respond with wanting to tell their friends and get more people to watch you.  If you just do what you love because you love to though, your talent and wit and everything will come out naturally.

Take into account the vlogbrothers.  They have said on multiple occasions that they never meant to gain 440,112 subscribers, and its clear that the way they got there was just being likable and funny.  You can tell all your friends to tell all of there friends to subscribe to you, but unless you show who you really are because you want to and because it's what you love to do, no one will see it and not many will like you.

Don't let a desire for fans get the best of your art- just be you and it'll show through.
